FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting
This qualification reflects professional accounting job roles in financial services and other industries, including tax agents, accounts payable and accounts receivable officers, payroll service providers, and employees performing a range of accounting tasks for organisations in a range of industries. Individuals in these roles apply solutions to a range of often complex problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They apply initiative to plan, coordinate and evaluate their own work and provide guidance to others within defined guidelines.
Entry requirement
The participants in ATQ College’s version of the FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting will only be people with one of these requirements:
-Pre-requisites requirement for Diploma of Accounting: students should complete any of the following below before course commencement:
-Completion of the FNSSS00014 Accounting Principles Skill Set; OR Completion of FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting or equivalent; OR Completion of FNS40215 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping; OR FNS40217 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent.
-Academic Requirements: High school completion – Year 12 or equivalent
-Age: must be over 18
-Interview: All prospective students are required to participate in an interview with one of the Student Support Officers of ATQ College. The outcome of this interview together with the outcome of the LLN test report with the completed interview will be forwarded to the VET Academic Manager to assess their suitability & capacity to undertake the course. The interview may be in person or via the phone/skype. The subjects covered by the Diploma require a degree of maturity and commitment with students being involved extensively in practical demonstration and simulated work sessions.
-Language, Literacy and Numeracy requirements:
English Entry Requirements
-An individual undertaking this program requires well developed language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills relevant to the context of their role. All prospective students must complete the LLN Robot test based on the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). This qualification has an ACSF level of 4.
-Technology and literacy requirements: Learners will need access to a computer and the internet with the following specifications:
-Microsoft Office 2007 or above and
-Microsoft Windows 2000 or Mac OS X
-Learners will also need access to a printer and the following applications: Adobe Acrobat Reader and Macromedia Flash player.
-Sound computer skills are required that include using intermediate level Word features. Ability to produce and present word-processed documents/ reports and undertake internet research.
-As part of the learning cycle students may be required to undertake online research or activities each week in class during term time.

Total 52 weeks
40 weeks study: 4 terms x 10 weeks of study
and 12 weeks break

-Classroom (Face to face): 20 hours per week
-Self-paced Study(Online): 10 hours per week
